What is Vastu?
Vastushastra is an ancient Indian science of Spaces.
It is knowledge about structures and land energies from ancient India. It includes principles of earth energies, design, layout, measurements, directions, space arrangement, and spatial geometry. to facilitate the wellbeing of the occupants and fulfilling the purpose of the space.
Elements of Vastu
- Land selection and energy correction of the plot.
- Identifying and treating Geopathic stress. Geopathic stress is disturbance in earth energies that can cause physical illnesses, psychological problems, obstacles in achieving success.
- The five elements (Panch Tattvas) – fire, water, air, earth, space. Achieving their balanced state.
- The planetary influences and strengths in the directions, through Jyotish understanding of the clients’ horoscope. It is a myth that there are universally good or bad directions in Vastu! As an example – many people believe that a property with a south entrance is bad. And then there are some people who have prospered in south facing properties. How can this be? It is because it depends on the planetary influences in a person’s horoscope.
- Activating the beneficial effects of 45 divine energy fields. To accurately map and harness the 33 positive and 12 negative energy fields that manifest in every space. Even in modern constructed spaces that are irregular in shape and are not aligned with cardinal compass directions.
- Applying and adapting the ancient shastras to contemporary situations. Identifying modern-day objects and activities in the light of ancient wisdom and placing them in their conducive directions.
It is only adept Vastushastris who have the knowledge and expertise of blending Vastu and Jyotish and can customise the space planning for each individual client. Such practitioners are few – as they were in ancient times too. That is why, even in ancient times this advanced form of Jyotish based Vastu was available only to kings and the powerful elite.
The Process
1. Understanding the clients’ needs and concerns thoroughly.
2. To the scale layout (floor plan – map) of the space.
Working without a scaled layout of the space is like shooting in the dark. Any professional Vastu consultant would need a scaled layout for precise working.
3. Analysis on various aspects (directions, slopes, entrances, tattvas, planets, energy fields) identifying the relevant imbalances in the space that may be causing the problems.
4. Scanning and treating geopathic stress.
4. Suggesting remedies and changes. Simple and easy. Rarely involving demolitions and structural changes.
